Elm Class News

On Mondays, we have a “weekend news” slot where children can share any exciting or interesting news. This can include showing souvenirs from trips or photographs etc.

On Fridays, we are going to use a rota system to give every child the chance to bring something to school for Show and Tell. Your child will be told at the beginning of the week when it is their turn. We ask that you support us by encouraging your child to think about what they might like to share with the class.

Some examples may include:

  • Items relevant to our topic work
  • Books or photographs
  • Items made by the children or interesting “finds” or mementos

Please, NO TOYS, GAMES or expensive items.

Thank you for your support

Mrs Tinto, Class Teacher

Dear Parents of Year 4 children

On Monday 31 March, your child is invited to take part in a Languages Day at Trafalgar School, Downton. This is for Year 4 pupils from 7 local primary schools in our cluster and has been organised to promote languages, giving the children a taster of new languages and an insight into the Easter customs of different countries. We are very grateful to Trafalgar School for hosting this day and for their help in organising it.

This promises to be a very exciting day with 5 languages on offer. Your child will participate in 3 of the following languages: French, Spanish, Russian, Swedish or Icelandic. Some of the workshops will be led by staff from Trafalgar and some by primary teachers and native speakers. GCSE students will be on hand to assist the leaders. Mr Wyatt will accompany the Year 4 children. Salisbury Journal will probably be taking photographs during the day so please let Ms Marshall know if you have any objection to your child’s photograph appearing in the paper.

We shall be travelling to Downton by minibus and would ask for £5 to help cover the cost of transport. The children need to be at school at the normal time and must wear school uniform. We shall be returning to school at 1.30pm. A French style picnic lunch (to be eaten indoors) is included in the cost of the day. We are very grateful to Reeve the Bakers for supplying the French sticks for lunch and to Tescos for their help.

Your child will need:

  • To wear school uniform and bring a coat for playtime (which will not be at the same time as the Trafalgar pupils)
  • A named water bottle
  • A hard boiled egg
  • Apron if you have one

I hope your child enjoys what should be a very busy and enjoyable day and that they come home with some new skills and words. Please return the Permission Slip as soon as possible with your payment.

Clair Marshall
