July ‘08

We had a very successful social evening on 8th July, meeting some new parents and talking to each other about the future events for the Friends of Coombe Bissett Primary School.  Thank you to everyone who attended and to Mrs Macaulay for providing the refreshments!   Thanks also to Debbie Vaughan for coming forward to fill the post of secretary.  Please find below a list of forthcoming dates for your diaries and some new suggestions for family activities and fund raising events for next year.

Events for the autumn term

Friday 19th September            9.00 am - Coffee Morning @ School Hall.
All welcome, including younger siblings.   Donations made towards drinks and biscuits.

Thursday 25th September        7.30 pm - Friends of CB School AGM + wine & nibbles @ School Hall
We will be electing class representatives and committee posts but also meeting new parents and catching up with news from over the holidays.   Please come along with your ideas and suggestions.

Saturday 4th October               2 pm to 4 pm - Jumble Sale @ Coombe Bissett Hall
We will draw up a rota for the whole day (9 am - 5 pm) as we need to sort the jumble and clear up afterwards. This is usually a big fund raiser for the school so any offer of support would be much appreciated.  If any dads can spare a couple of hours either before or during the sale we could use their assistance for the heavy work with large items.  Please keep all your jumble when you have a sort out during the summer holidays!

Friday 24th October                 3.30 pm - Cake Sale @ School Hall

Friday 12th December              Children’s Christmas mini-fayre @ School Hall (time tbc)

Below are some proposed activities for 2009. Please let us know if you can help with planning or organisation of any of these events.  No offer of help is too small.  They will only be able to go ahead if people commit to them at this stage.

Friday 3rd April 2009                Easter Bonnet Parade and raffle @ Coombe Bissett Village Hall

June 2009                               Family Campathon (1 night (either Friday or Saturday) under canvas) on the school field (date and details - tbc).

Saturday 4th July 2009             Coombe Bissett Primary School Summer Fayre

We hope to fill the Oak Class vacancy at the AGM.

Many thanks to Coombe Bissett Parish Council who kindly donated £50 to the Friends of CB Primary School to thank us for our assistance with distributing the bark in the play area.  Once again, thanks to everyone that helped.
