Background and Progress Report
The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, working on behalf of the Parish Council has been developing a Neighbourhood Plan for our community over the past few years. The work has now reached the ‘Regulation 14’ stage where a formal consultation on the draft Plan is conducted.
Neighbourhood Plans are powerful planning tools to both support the sustainability of our community and ensure that any development meets our needs and reflects the community’s wishes. Once a Plan is formally agreed at a Referendum, they become part of Wiltshire Council’s planning policies and are used in deciding any planning applications.
The preparation of the draft Plan has involved extensive research, analyses and consultation. This has included an initial community questionnaire, a housing needs survey, development of themed evidence papers, a technical assessment of possible development sites and a Community Survey to gather residents’ views on five short-listed potential development sites and proposed green spaces.
In 2023 a Regulation 14 Consultation into the Draft Plan was conducted by the Parish Council. Comments received from the local community, statutory consultees and other stakeholders have been used to further refine the plan, its objectives and policies.
