Coombe Bissett Bellringers
We are a varied group whose main purpose is to keep alive the sound of bells in our local church. A sound that has been ringing out over the village in some form or another since the 1500s and is a sound peculiar to England. We have 6 bells and we manage to find a team for most occasions but we are desperate to hand on our knowledge while we are all still fit enough to climb the stairs.
Practice night is Tuesday, from 7pm to 8.30pm. We cater for all levels and try to make the evening fun as well as teasing the brain cells.
Contrary to popular belief, bellringing does not call for a great deal of physical effort - more a matter of timing and an orderly mind - so it is not just a male prerogative..
